Audit Log
Immutable records of who did what, when, in the system — the forensic layer under compliance, disputes and internal control.
Audit logs capture actions with actor, timestamp and before/after state: deal-term changes, manual adjustments, payout approvals, permission grants, data exports.
Design properties that matter
Immutability (logs editable by admins audit nothing), coverage of business-critical mutations (commission rules and payment details above all), retention matching regulatory horizons, and queryability (a log nobody can search answers nothing under deadline). Use cases arrive uninvited: partner disputes (“who changed my deal in March?”), regulator requests, internal-fraud investigations, and post-incident reconstruction. The log’s quality is determined the day it’s designed — long before anyone knows which entry will matter.
