State of the iGaming Affiliate Market 2026: US Revenue Denominators
Modeled Industry Benchmarks. Prepared 15 October 2026. Published figures retain their original period and population. Scenario inputs are explicitly illustrative and are not measured industry averages, forecasts, or results from iGamingXpert customers. This series studies affiliate measurement; it does not estimate a universal CPA, conversion rate, or player lifetime value.
What does the US market total actually measure?
A market revenue total supplies context for an affiliate model, but it does not specify the commission pool. The American Gaming Association’s 2025 annual release reports $78.72 billion in US commercial gaming GGR, including $10.74 billion in iGaming revenue and $16.96 billion in sports betting revenue. The reporting period is calendar 2025; the release was published on 26 February 2026. These are market aggregates, not affiliate revenues.
| Measure | Reported amount | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial gaming GGR | $78.72bn | Market aggregate |
| iGaming revenue | $10.74bn | Reported vertical total |
| Sports betting revenue | $16.96bn | Separate vertical total |
| Derived iGaming share | 13.64% | $10.74bn / $78.72bn; rounded |
How can an affiliate revenue bridge be modeled?
Start with a synthetic $1,000,000 of operator GGR rather than attributing any share of a national total to one affiliate. Let eligibility be the fraction linked to an eligible affiliate cohort. Let the commissionable fraction be the share remaining after the deductions defined by that agreement. Commission equals GGR multiplied by eligibility, the commissionable fraction, and the RevShare rate. Each input needs a separate source in an operational implementation.
| Scenario | Eligible GGR | Commissionable fraction | RevShare | Commission |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lower eligible share | $50,000 (5%) | 60% | 30% | $9,000 |
| Middle eligible share | $100,000 (10%) | 70% | 30% | $21,000 |
| Higher eligible share | $150,000 (15%) | 80% | 30% | $36,000 |
The middle scenario is $1,000,000 × 10% × 70% × 30% = $21,000. Holding the other middle inputs fixed, each percentage point of eligibility changes modeled commission by $2,100. Changing several inputs together produces a scenario envelope, not a confidence interval. The table does not identify which scenario is typical or most likely.
Why is market share different from payable share?
A publisher can influence a referral without receiving payable credit for every later event. Qualification rules, contractual attribution windows and player eligibility determine the credited population. A general market expansion can coexist with a smaller qualified cohort for an individual publisher. The revenue bridge therefore needs an eligible-cohort ledger before applying a commission percentage.
The same distinction applies to geography. A national aggregate spans operators, states, products and commercial arrangements. Combining those totals with a single publisher’s traffic share would assume that monetization and qualification are uniform. This report makes no such assumption. Cross-country comparisons also require aligned product coverage and currencies; simply adding dollars, pounds and euros creates an uninterpretable total.
What should the tracking ledger preserve?
Store an operator identifier, affiliate identifier, contract version, attributed player reference, financial period, GGR, each deduction, commissionable NGR, commission rate and payable amount. Reconcile aggregated financial records to the operator statement. A click or registration identifier establishes an attribution reference; it does not prove that the financial event is eligible for payment.
Compute deductions before aggregating across contracts when agreements use different definitions. Keep currency conversion as a separate, dated transformation. Where the operator corrects a previous month, record an adjustment and its effective period rather than silently replacing the original observation. This structure permits a reviewer to rebuild the commission bridge and identify which component changed.
How should this benchmark be used in 2026?
Use the published market figures to define the scale and reporting boundaries of the market context. Use the synthetic bridge to test how eligibility and deductions affect a specific agreement. Replace the illustrative rates only when reconciled contract data exists. The derived 13.64% is a share of reported market revenue; it is not an affiliate commission rate or a forecast for 2026.
