State of the iGaming Affiliate Market 2026: European Growth and Attribution Scenarios

Modeled Industry Benchmarks. Prepared 15 October 2026. Published figures retain their original period and population. Scenario inputs are explicitly illustrative and are not measured industry averages, forecasts, or results from iGamingXpert customers. This series studies affiliate measurement; it does not estimate a universal CPA, conversion rate, or player lifetime value.

Which European figures are observations and which are forecasts?

The EGBA and H2 Gambling Capital 2025 edition labels European online gambling GGR of €47.9 billion for 2024 as provisional, €51.1 billion for 2025 as an estimate and €54.8 billion for 2026 as an estimate. Coverage is EU-27 plus the UK and includes white and grey market activity unless otherwise specified. A 2026 label in this older source does not establish an observed 2026 result.

How can projected market growth be kept separate from credited referrals?

A normalized model makes the distinction explicit. Set an affiliate’s baseline eligible volume to an index of 100. Apply the source’s projected market growth factor, 54.8 / 51.1, only as a scenario multiplier. Then apply an illustrative eligibility-retention factor representing the fraction of that expanded opportunity still credited under the scenario. This factor is not player retention and is not estimated from the source.

Illustrative attribution scenarios using the same historical projection multiplier
Credited opportunity retainedResulting eligible-volume indexChange from baseline 100
100%107.24+7.24%
90%96.52−3.48%
75%80.43−19.57%
50%53.62−46.38%

The 90% scenario is 100 × (54.8 / 51.1) × 0.90 = 96.52. Even with the selected growth multiplier, a ten-percent reduction in the credited opportunity produces a lower eligible-volume index. The factor combines a deliberately simplified attribution assumption; it does not diagnose the reason for any real publisher’s loss of credit.

What mechanisms would need separate measurement?

A real attribution model should distinguish traffic arrival, registration, qualified deposit, contractual acceptance and final financial settlement. Changes at any stage can alter the credited population. Combining them into one scenario factor is useful for sensitivity analysis, but operational diagnosis requires stage-level counts and stable definitions.

Retain the event timestamp, receipt timestamp, reporting timezone and contract effective date. A callback arriving in the following month can create an apparent period mismatch even when the transaction belongs to the original cohort. Record late arrivals and reconciliation adjustments separately. Treat a missing callback, a rejected qualification and a reversed commission as different states.

Why should the source vintage remain visible?

Forecasts can be revised when regulations, product mix or economic conditions change. This report intentionally reproduces a named 2025 projection vintage so another analyst can rerun the scenario. It does not present that vintage as the latest market estimate available in October 2026. Refreshing the source requires a new version of the calculation, not silently replacing the original benchmark.

The source population also differs from a single licensed operator’s reachable market. A model for one jurisdiction needs its own eligible product set and commercial access assumptions. Market GGR cannot be converted into affiliate revenue without a separate attribution share, commissionable-revenue definition and payout schedule.

What does the scenario establish?

The model establishes a mathematical relationship: the chosen market multiplier is insufficient to offset every possible reduction in credited opportunity. It does not establish a causal relationship between regulation, tracking technology or search visibility and commercial results. Preserve both the multiplier and eligibility factor in any reused table so the conclusion remains auditable.

For an affiliate operating plan, replace the synthetic factor with a reconciled funnel, then compare consistent periods. Keep the original forecast-vintage scenario as a reference and the observed funnel as a separate evidence series. Combining those series without labels would obscure which part of the result came from a projection and which part was measured.
