State of the iGaming Affiliate Market 2026: RevShare Mix and Cohort Maturity

Modeled Industry Benchmarks. Prepared 15 October 2026. Published figures retain their original period and population. Scenario inputs are explicitly illustrative and are not measured industry averages, forecasts, or results from iGamingXpert customers. This series studies affiliate measurement; it does not estimate a universal CPA, conversion rate, or player lifetime value.

Does an 86% RevShare mix mean an 86% commission rate?

No. Better Collective’s Q2 2025 report, page 6 describes approximately 300,000 new depositing customers for that quarter, of which 86% were on revenue-share arrangements. Multiplying the rounded figures gives approximately 258,000 RevShare NDCs and 42,000 other NDCs. These are historical figures for one company, not an industry-wide average, a revenue mix, or the commission percentage paid by operators.

How does commission maturity differ from acquisition volume?

A RevShare acquisition cohort can produce receipts after its acquisition quarter, whereas a qualified CPA produces a fixed payment under its agreement. Comparing current-period NDCs with total current-period revenue mixes new acquisition with the continuing contribution of older cohorts. A maturity model should retain each acquisition cohort and its subsequent monthly revenue.

90%$56.23$86.11$120.00Month 18
100%$72.00$144.00Unbounded in this modelMonth 9

Monthly commission before attrition is $40 × 30% = $12. With 90% retention, cumulative commission is $12 × (1 − 0.9 raised to n) / (1 − 0.9). Month 17 produces $99.99 after rounding and month 18 produces $101.99. The calculation uses unrounded amounts to determine the crossover. At 85% retention, the $80 lifetime ceiling remains below the $100 CPA.

What changes under a hybrid agreement?

A hybrid agreement has its own fixed payment and its own recurring percentage. As a separate illustrative offer, a $40 fixed component plus 20% of $40 monthly commissionable NGR at 90% retention produces $40 + $8 × (1 − 0.9 raised to n) / 0.1. At month 12 the modeled total is $97.41, and at month 14 it is $101.70. That offer reaches a $100 comparison in month 14.

This hybrid example must not inherit the pure RevShare rate of 30%. Each offer’s terms need a separate calculation. The fixed component can improve early receipts while the lower recurring rate reduces later incremental receipts. Comparing only the commission percentage or only the fixed payment loses the timing relationship.

How should a publisher compare cohorts fairly?

Keep qualification rules, initial players, currency and measurement horizon consistent. Separate accrued commission from cash received. Report how much of a period’s commission originates from earlier acquisition cohorts. If an agreement changes, preserve the historical contract version so the same player is not retrospectively valued under today’s commercial terms.

Player retention is only one assumption. Actual commissionable NGR can vary by activity, product, deductions and outcome volatility. Negative carryover, qualification reversals and payment timing require additional state beyond this positive, flat-rate model. The table demonstrates an auditable mechanism; it does not identify a typical retention rate or recommend one compensation structure for every publisher.

How does this support the 2026 market study?

The historical company disclosure establishes that acquisition deal mix and commission rate describe different quantities. The scenarios show why commission maturity must be logged alongside acquisition volume. A market report should preserve those distinctions before drawing conclusions about publisher efficiency or a change in search visibility.
